Nicotine Index: compare nicotine per pouch
Nicotine Index (NI) is an independent comparison standard documented at nicotineindex.com. SnusBattle applies the standard to verified nicotine per pouch; it does not own or define the standard. NI 0 means nicotine-free and NI 6 contains the highest measured amounts in the catalogue.
| Nicotine Index | Nicotine per pouch | Products |
|---|---|---|
| NI 0 | 0 mg/pouch | 165 |
| NI 1 | 0.1–3 mg/pouch | 70 |
| NI 2 | 3.1–6 mg/pouch | 354 |
| NI 3 | 6.1–9 mg/pouch | 389 |
| NI 4 | 9.1–13 mg/pouch | 552 |
| NI 5 | 13.1–20 mg/pouch | 274 |
| NI 6 | >20 mg/pouch | 117 |
63 active products lack a verified mg-per-pouch value and therefore have no Nicotine Index yet.
Why NI is separate from Strong and Extra Strong
Words such as Strong, Extra Strong, Ultra and Max, as well as dots on the can, belong to each manufacturer’s own scale. Two products with nearly identical nicotine content can therefore carry different labels. NI keeps the measured comparison separate from that wording.
How the Nicotine Index is calculated
NI is determined only by mg of nicotine per pouch: NI 1 is 0.1–3 mg, NI 2 is 3.1–6 mg, NI 3 is 6.1–9 mg, NI 4 is 9.1–13 mg, NI 5 is 13.1–20 mg and NI 6 is above 20 mg. NI 0 is reserved for nicotine-free products.
mg per pouch and mg/g
Mg per pouch is the total nicotine in one portion and decides NI. Mg/g is the concentration in the filling. Pouch weight matters, so both values remain visible wherever they are available.

Questions about the Nicotine Index
What does NI mean?
NI is short for Nicotine Index, an independent standard based on verified mg of nicotine per pouch.
Is NI the same as the dots on the can?
No. Dots and strength words are the manufacturer’s own communication and remain separate product facts.
Can two products with the same NI feel different?
Yes. Moisture, pH, pouch format and flavours such as mint or menthol can affect release and perceived intensity.
